The Challenge
Münch Chemie International
A leading Asian tire manufacturer had to deal with strong microbial contamination in the supply line for uniformity check and final tire inspection. The intervals between changes of the seals used were rather short due to rapid wear of the seals. Additionally, corrosion damage of test rims occurred frequently, resulting in high costs for maintenance and repair.
Our Solution
Münch Chemie International
The team of Münch Chemie International GmbH analysed the test conditions at the customer’s site in detail. The observed problems could be traced back to the assembling aid currently in use which did not suit the prevailing warm and humid climate in Asia. Based on these findings, our chemists developed a new water-based lubricant for tire assembling which is completely free of any soaps, silicone and solvents, thereby protecting the delicate seals from rapid wear. Thanks to the neutral pH, the new assembling aid reliably prevents corrosion damage of test rims. Customer trials further demonstrated that the new lubricant avoids microbial contamination and allows for significant extended service intervals. As a result, the new product enables remarkable cost savings. Furthermore, the new assembling aid does not influence test results from uniformity check and final inspection. Indeed, test results were shown to exhibit a high reproducibility and reliability.
The ready-to-use product has specifically been designed to be extraordinarily easy to handle: There is no need for any preparatory steps such as stirring, dilution or the like. Moreover, the trials proved that application of the lubricant is possible via all commonly used methods such as brushing, rolling or spraying.
The newly developed lubricant completes the already existing portfolio of lubricants and processing aids. In conclusion, Münch Chemie International GmbH offers customers a range of optimally adapted ready-to-use lubricants for tire assembling which guarantee a high reproducibility and reliability in uniformity check and final inspection and prevent microbial contamination and corrosion damage – independently of the prevailing climate.
